Case Summaries

Since 2000 the Cunningham Law Firm has obtained compensation on behalf of our clients either through settlement or jury verdicts totaling $170,000,000.  The majority of these cases were settled after formal mediations with the terms of the settlements to remain confidential. Thus we are prohibited from disclosing the amounts of some of these cases.  The settlements and verdicts below represent just a sampling of some of the cases we have successfully settled or brought to trial for our clients.

Burn Cases

  • Defective Oven Range - Two minor children, ages 12 and 3, were severely burned due to the leakage of natural gas from a defectively designed oven range.  Jury verdict totaling $43,112,000.
  • Defective Lamp in Operating Room - 1-day-old infant suffered burns during routine circumcision when a defective lamp was used in the operating room.  Case settled with the terms of the settlement confidential.
  • Natural Gas Explosion - 67-year-old man was burned when natural gas leaked from a cracked flex line connected to his stove and exploded.  Case settled for with the terms of the settlement confidential.
  • Stove Tip Over at Apartment Complex - 2-year-old boy was burned after hot liquid spilled onto him when a stove within his apartment tipped over.  Case settled with the terms of the settlement confidential.
  • Defective Stereo Amplifier - 26-year-old husband and wife suffered burn injuries in their home as a result of a defective stereo amplifier.  Case settled after formal mediation for $600,000.
  • Bus/Pedestrian Accident - 24-year-old woman suffered severe road burns after being hit and dragged by a city bus.  Case settled after formal mediation.  Terms of the settlement confidential.
  • Gas Tank Explosion - 41-year-old man was severely burned after his vehicle collided with a 1979 GMC pickup truck causing the truck’s side saddle gas tank to explode.  Case settled after formal mediation.  Terms of settlement confidential.
  • Stove Tip Over at Apartment Complex - 4-year-old girl was severely burned after hot liquid spilled onto her when a stove within her apartment tipped over.  Case settled with the terms of the settlement confidential.
  • Defective Water Dispenser - 15-month-old girl was burned by scalding hot water due to failure of a child proof lever.  Case settled with the terms of the settlement confidential.
  • Restaurant Negligence - 42-year-old woman was burned while seated within a restaurant when a waiter dropped a plate of scalding hot food onto her back.  Case settled with the terms of the settlement confidential.
